Do Know The Cognitive Functions of The INFJ Personality?

Dumbledore was a famous INFJ
*sniff*
(P.S. He is on the logo for INFJ as
Advocate on 16personalities)
It is critical for you to know your cognitive functions. It's a matter of life and death when someone holds a gun to your face and asks you for your functions. So KYF - Know your Functions. It'll give you the tools to know yourself deeper than you ever knew yourself before. Wouldn't that would be super cool?! Think Mariana trench deep. And of course, you're psyche is deeper than that. Personality is just scratching the surface of it. And to get "deeper than Mariana trench", you have to at least get "as deep as Mariana trench".(That's my Ni at work, BTW 😋. Unbalanced overuse and dependence on analogies to express an idea to someone else)

This is especially true for the INFJ personality type since there are a lot of mistyping. Especially because most people are introduced to the INFJ personality type on 16personalities
as the "Advocate". It's so dumb! They don't use cognitive functions. And they say that themselves over at 16personalities. They use a combination of the Big 5 (OCEAN) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or MBTI (which is loosely based upon the cognitive functions). So if you're reading about the "Advocate" (INFJ) on 16personalities and you think that it doesn't really fit, you're probably typed incorrectly or mistyped. So KYF!!!

F**king KYF, Dude!
Once you know you're cognitive functions, you'll know specifically where you can shoot for Mars and where you have to work like a bee. The brain is great at thinking about something once it has a name. Pause. Think about that for a second. It is really profound. Knowing that something is lacking is really the first step to fixing it. You can't fix a leaking gas pipeline without really knowing that it's leaking. (Although we won't really have to care about gas pipelines in a few years, but meh🤷. We'll find another use for it.)

But to know your functions, you really need to know all the functions and what they are.

Ok, Definition time!

Cognitive functions: A set of functions that label elements of the mental processes that are present in the human psyche.
    • Regardless of the personality type, everybody uses all the functions.
    • There is an order of preference.
    • Functions in your shadow may have a higher preference than your inferior functions, depending upon people around you

Cognitive Functions of an INFJ

This needs a lot of explanation of its own. It demands at least one post for each of the cognitive functions. Especially Ni. The elusive mystic who wishes to live in the Himalayas. A 200 component gear would be easier to explain by a huge margin, including its physics. Even Jung couldn't put "Ni" in proper words. And his lead function was Ni. That's like Wright brothers saying they don't know how the first plane was made (mad analogy, I know. Just take it, please.)

Here are the 4 cognitive functions

This is the order from Dominant to Inferior
Introverted Intuition (Dominant)
    • Responsible for Internal information categorization
    • It organizes the data that it took from the outside to make some sense out of it
    • It does so by creating "imaginary connections between concrete data" which have to rise from within. (That's my view).
    • The concrete data that it needs to come from the Se function.
Extraverted Feeling (Auxillary)
    • Responsible for processing Feeling related mental processes of the psyche
    • The feeling of any object would depend on the feeling of the people (or rather feelings and virtues) around them around him.
    • Your liking for a red banana depends on whether other people like them or not.
    • If this function is dominant or auxiliary, then there is a very high chance you will not like a red banana (because others don't like them)
    • With this function in the conscious stack, it is difficult for the psyche to understand the feeling attached to itself.
Introverted Thinking (Tertiary)
    • Responsible for processing information internally.
    • Like the Ni, this function goes deep, racking logic after logic about a singular object.
    • Unlike Ni, it very much requires an output to be made while the function is being used.
    • A psyche with Ti would like to go deep with logic. It wants to understand a topic to it's very fundamental if it can.
Extraverted Sensing (Inferior)
    • This function is grounded in the reality of the 5 senses.
    • It's extroverted nature results in the "gather" based data collection.
    • By that, I mean it will collect any data with its 5 senses and leave it up to Ni to organize the data.
    • It does not process the data, only gather it. Similar to Ni in that sense.
